Tablature for guitar in video

(7.9, 71 votes)

Hey, today we'll learn a technique called 'Double Pluck'.

This technique is for Intermediate and Advanced players and it widely used by Victor Wooten.

For play, you have to use your index finger and your middle finger to pop. When you do it, try not to curl your fingers under the string too much because you wont be able to do it fast enough.

You can also use the beat of drums background (in versions: slow and fast), just download the MP3s.

Good luck.

Check out the beats in MP3: Fast, Slow.

Nice to see a Bass lesson here, but I agree. Even though it's slowed down it would be nice with some explanations as it's carried along. Still, good stuff.

i agree, it's usually a lot easier to have something explained to you than to just see it a few times or even to see it slow. it's still good to see bass lessons on here, i hope that more will be added.

Very well explained I thought. You don't really need language in music. good video. I was able to pick up the riff by the end of the video which means i approve!

jazz_rock_feel :

That was a pretty poor instructional video overall. If the attempt was to teach a new technique it failed. Seeing something is okay. Seeing something and then having it explained to you, and then seeing it again, is fantastic.

Where's the lesson?

I have the same bass as him I think haha, Fender P-Bass....idk...i just cant produce enough sound from that method...maybe the action isn't close enough.

Double Plucking is an advanced addition on to slap and pop. Normal slap and pop technique only uses one finger to do the 'pop.'

Scourge441 :

Cool riff, but the video is kinda useless without an explanation.

What he's trying to teach us is Victor Wooten's double thump technique, which is different from regular slap.

POSTED: 06/04/2008 - 09:31 am / quote |
Scourge441 :

Also, Victor Wooten does the double thump by using his thumb essentially as a pick, going up and down to pluck the string. This video ignores that aspect.
