Nice picture up top of the page... that's seriously awesome.
Great stuff here. I've been kind of stuck on this as well, but this video helped me understand it a bit better (chord inversions, not that song). Cheers on the 4-fingered G chord, too; that's the way I learned it, and have always played it, so it's good to see I'm not the only one who does it that way!
All in all, sweet vid. Plus it's good to see you back teaching us some awesome stuff. Good work. POSTED: 07/29/2006 - 12:53 pm / quote |

Why don't Pick and the shred guy collaborate for something? Like have seperate lessons where each of them teaches a seperate part to the same song? Wouldn't it be awesome if we could learn and record either a rhythm or lead part and then combine them with another users to have the full thing? Might be worth thinking about. I've been waiting for this! Great stuff and thank you.
Maybe a little instruction on how to sing and play at the same time. What is your main focus? Do you play and then match the start of the lyrics with certain notes, or does it just flow naturally from being really familiar with the material?
Thanks again. POSTED: 07/31/2006 - 12:22 am / quote |

truthfully the only think i dint like about this video is that in the introduction PickNgrin didnt say Its guitar time, thats the best part i enjoy most about the video POSTED: 07/31/2006 - 01:20 am / quote |
Dan Steinman :
very good, these are very common, very useful techniques that everyone should know. don't expect anything complex and jazzy if you're looking for that, though, this is a beginner/intermediate lesson (i already knew how to do everything in the video) POSTED: 07/31/2006 - 02:10 am / quote |

SLyer785, Pick isn't trying to show you that he's better than dahl, he's trying to teach people on UG how to become better guitarists. Believe it or not, there are tons of people that would like to learn this stuff, and you're one of the few that don't. Please don't criticize other people's work just because it doesn't apply to you. Thanks. POSTED: 07/31/2006 - 04:39 am / quote |

If you actually payed attention to the video, you'd know why he picked "Bad Day". The point of this video isn't to teach you that song specifically (unless you wanted to learn that song), it's to show you that there are several different ways to play another artist's song and "make it your own". See, this is what pick is here for. You dont have to be able to shred and play the most advanced techniques to be a great guitar player and songwriter. Although, im pretty sure he knows how to...he just doesnt dwell on it day in and day out. POSTED: 08/02/2006 - 11:43 pm / quote |

Dumbass... Learning theory is really beneficial to your songwriting and playing ability. Try applying it when you're transposing songs to suit your voice etc. it makes a lot of sense... There's more practicality to it than meets the eye. POSTED: 08/03/2006 - 12:53 pm / quote |
