Hey guys,
Thanks a lot for the great feedback on my
last column. Really glad you guys enjoyed it, so I decided to go ahead and do another solo by Written In Blood, this time for the song "We Are Divinity".
This one is a little bit more challenging the one on my past column (
Create A Dream), but nothing that a metronome and a few hours to practice won't enable you to do! I use quite a few different techniques and I'm actually very proud of the way it turned out.
I'm using the A Minor scale (or A harmonic minor as some would call...) and the notes are: A B C D E F G#. I know I've talked a little about about the misuse of scale names in my past column and promised I'd talk some more about it in the future. I will have a video in the future to talk about that exclusively. For now, whether you call it "A Minor" or "A Harmonic Minor", the notes are what matter really.
The rhythm underneath it only has two chords: Em and F and I understand that as E Phyrgian. I know that mode has G rather than G#, but the band isn't really playing either note. Hence why I chose to go with the scale I did.
All the explanation is on the video, as well as the answers to a few questions I got after the past column. Feel free to hit me up with anymore.
Hope you guys enjoy this month's lesson!
Rock on!
