God...I am so NOT looking foreword to this at all. The instrumentation sounds alright but the singing is just horrible. Pretty much every band in the past 10 years that have covered great classic songs has just bastardized them. Do they even try anymore nowadays?

Music change over time, so deal with it.
When bands cover other bands' songs they usually try to make their own version of it, not to sound exactly like them. Go listen your great classic songs if you gave up the modern metal.
Anyways, I like this cover.

Good thing I never got rid of my old metal collection from the 70's and 80's.

I staid with the times in music but it just gets old realy quick, and some I just cant stand for a second. We are all entitled to our own opinions and I just think older bands did a way better job at covering older songs and keeping the feeling while also adding their own style to it. Most of the newer bands just down tune guitars and try to make them brutal with their vocals and realy destroy everything that made the originals great.

As I Lay Dying did an attempt to keep the feel from the original by letting the bassist handle the most ov the vocals, and the instrumental work was very good in my opinion.
I agree with you about the tuning trend, since I hate swithcing tuning all the time. but this song is barely tuned down a half step.
I must say some bands could just get a a 7 string and stay with the tuning instead of fooling around with different tuning on all the tracks in fear of letting people hear that the songs sound almust the same.

I said the instrumentation was alright but the singing is (IMO) horrible and thats what ruins it for me. At-least I can say I gave it a chance, once was enough for me. Priest is also at the top of my list in the Metal bands, it's either them or Iron Maiden thats in my number one spot.
