Ultimate-Guitar presents the world premiere of "Duct Tape Smile", the new video from Psyopus. This is a fitting home for the video as Psyopus is the source of some of the most insane and over the top guitar riffs in metal and Ultimate-Guitar.com is the home of one of the largest communities of shredders on the web.
Psyopus architect Chris Arp comments, "Super psyched to finally be getting this video out for the public to see. It's been a long time coming. This is my second favorite song off of our latest album. With this, I am happy that there is this video to compliment the imagination of the song."
The video was shot in Copenhagen, Denmark by Michael Panduro and David Lund for Siegfried Productions.
yeah i think there is something missing also, their other albums where better and i find this one kinda puts me in a weird place lol maybe thats wats good about it
You people don't get it, it's not terrible, it's Chris' style. Look on youtube for live videos and your jaw will the floor when you see him pull this stuff off flawlessly live.
OR, you could just trash talk on the internet and continue to live in ignorance of something you just don't understand. Either way, I don't care.
That was so brutal I took a crap in my pants... But seriously, amazing, glad I own all their cds, though the latest one could do without the weird voices
even though it may be creative, different and take lots of skill, it still sounds awful and isn't entertaining
This. You can't tell me anyone actually pops this into their car stereo and listens for pleasure. Sure it's fun to watch him play it, but only to keep your mind off the sound it's actually making.

I love this and when I had a car I did pop it into the stereo to listen to. I think it sounds beastly.
I know I talked a bit of trash, calling it craps but honestly I have tried very hard to listen and understand this album but it's just too much uninspired wankery. Too many slides, taps [and pull-offs] and wammy bar pulls. Repetitive noise that just does not represent my interpretation of good metal music. I can appreciate what Arp is doing and he's light years beyond anything I could pull off, but I just can't get in to it. That and he cries when people give him bad reviews and don't "Understand" his music.
I enjoy listening to this band a lot. But i agree that after a while some of the songs get very boring. But if you have a trained enough ear, there is some very technical and catchy type phrasing that they use combined with some wonderful little slides that really puts me in a good place on a few of the songs.
Love Psyopus, definitely isn't one of my fav songs. But quite frankly, I listen to Pysopus for the technical skill, creative compositions, and aggression. Not particularly for the melodic pleasure.
It's way more fun to be a knuckle dragging heathen/jock and just point and laugh at anything that is outside the norm, apparently. At least APPRECIATE what Chris Arp does. Do you have to like it? No. But to call it "horrible" is just unfounded. I don't like Dave Matthews Band, but I'm not going to call it horrible, I just say "I don't like DMB." I know they're talented musicians and respect what they do.
Psyopus = Psychotic Opus. Their music is meant to sound like it was conjured up in the mind of a disturbed person. Chris Arp is a genius on the guitar and could play whatever he wants with precision most of us will never have, but he does what he wants and makes unique music that doesnt blend in with the rest of the chug chug hey lets throw a 4th breakdown in this 2 min song metal music. I cant wait to see what he does next.
I also wish they'd chuck some actual riffs in there once in a while. This is enjoyably mental and energetic, but it's kind of missing something.
