I wonder if he can actually play guitar like that AND sing live, or are they studio only? also the singer/guitarist reminds me of Jim Carey as the Cable Guy

i'm not suprised a lot of people like this. i personally think it's terrible, but compared to what they usually put up here it's a fresh start. The Red Chord sounds a bit like this but with more creative riffs and minus the bad shredding.

Not to sh*t on artists trying to be creative and make something original, but this is so generic and bland. Technically they're great, but there are a thousand bands that sounds just like this. To make fresh, new metal, bands need to move away from the typical grindcore vocals, the simple minded horror imagery, being "heavy", 4/4 time, and the punk-styled-ADD drumming (Hence the Slayer shirts in this video, a dirrect influence on the drummer). *gasp* blasphemy! right? No, It is way better to fail while trying something new than it is to replicate what's already been done (perhaps the band should be called replication).
But really, how much "heavier" can metal get before it just becomes too corny to listen to? That's what every new band is doing right now, like Metallica was to Maiden was to Sabbath etc.

How about this, let the people who want to be aggressive and use harsh vocals do that. And that the people that don't want to hear it listen to something and and not base ALL of metal off of EXTREME metal

actually havent heard much music that actually sounds like this. sure it has the elements of some other forms of metal, but it sounds like you're just a hater. try and understand these different forms of metal and maybe you will realize that these guys arent a simulacrum of slayer, but an amalgimation of several different styles, uniqely rolled into one. these guys arent even going for 'heavy' lol, you comment is bogus.

They sound like a shittier, metalcore version of Necrophagist.
And I don’t even like much Necrophagist because Necrophagist sound like a dodgy rip on every good Tech Death band.
Not having a go at you, but if you've never heard anything like this, then you probably haven't listened to any tech death metal, just so you know, death metal isn't confined to shit bands like Cannibal Corpse or Deicide, there are a lot better bands out there who just don't have the commercial success.

On to my opinion:
I don't like this song at all, nor the band for that matter, except for the drums because of his clear punk/early thrash influence (which I've always had a soft-spot for).
The guitar just sounds stupid because it's a whole bunch of completely different scales jammed into one song and it doesn't flow at all. I'm not denying his playing talent, cos I sure as shit cant play like that, but I am challenging his song writing abilities.
And I hate the vocals, that’s the metalcore part, and therefore my biggest hate.
But at the same time, I'm glad he has shitty vocals, because even with decent death growls, I'd find it insulting to call this death metal or Tech death even.
Bands like this are the new millennium version of Slipknot, they are trying to do something new and different with more aggression, but it would be best if they left it to the older kids who focus more on music and less on image and commercial success.
Slipknot always has and always will have a stigma, and for good reason. They were the poster band for 'posers', which in the late 90's/early 2000's was faux-goth.
Nowadays, it's 'deathcore'/'mathcore'/'hardcore' (lets just say *core) which has the stigma, and the reason for it is because those bands are so involved in their 'scene' of being hardcore/deathcore etc. that they fail to make good music and continue to deteriorate the amazingness of heavy music.
*core music is the new Nu Metal, where every band sounds the same and don’t compare to the masters, and this band is no exception.
This band just reminded me how much I hate Job For A Cowboy and how pissed off I am that they are playing with Behemoth in April.
C’mon!!
I mean seriously, Behemoth, what are you thinking?!?!?!
They should have brought Belphegor with them, now that would be a ****ing awesome show!!

P.s. Sorry for my massive post.

metal_marxism :

P.p.s. My main hatred of hardcore kids are the ones that ruin my metal mosh pits.
I saw Sonata Arctica the other night (one of my favourite power metal bands) and there were hardcore kids hardcore dancing during the slow songs.
Those little bastards.
And I kept getting hit in the back by one of them.
I mean, I'm trying to enjoy song sweet melodies and insane musicianship, and all i can think about is how much I hate being punched in the back.
IT'S POWER METAL!!
IT'S THE LEAST PUNCH ON STYLE OF MUSIC, IT'S ALL ABOUT HUGE ORCHESTRAL VOCALS AND EMPOWERING SOLOS, NOT FLAILING YOUR ARMS ABOUT LIKE A DICKHEAD!!
I can imagine hardcore kids at the Lamb Of God gig I went to in December.
But they've ruined some of my favourite gigs including, but not limited to:
Satyricon
Opeth
Amon Amarth
Dark Funeral & Rotting Christ
Sonata Arctica, Vanishing Point & Ensiferum.
Thems be metal acts, not crappy hardcore bands, piss off to your own shitty Carpathian, Bring Me The Horizon, Suicide Silence and Prom Queen concerts!!
And lose the emo fringes, tight jeans, brightly coloured, generic sleeve tatts and myspace pseudonyms.
