theres no mcomparison between this and RATM. seriously. but thats not the point, its a different style of music. I liked it, it was different, catchy, and everything fit together nicely.

Why does Tom find it acceptable to put notes that don't make sense into his shreds? I dont shred, but if I did, I would put some more thought into making sure that I didn't play notes that made the listener feel awkward.
But at least he used the Whammy pedal, didn't see that coming.

Check out videos of these guys live, they're quite something. I think the backing vocals in the chorus ruin an otherwise great song, they just sound off pitch to me. I love when Morello does a solo and ends up flying through dimensions and space.

yeah they actually are using the radio remix instead of the original track but the remix is a lot better

this is just fun music. good shit to party to and it has energy. and they are about 1000x better live.

This is the first music I've heard from them, and it's certainly not what I expected from Morello, but I like it. It's catchy, but in a good way.

Solo is nice and I love the general instrumental but I'm not so sure on the gangster feel to the rap. It's very different to the rage rapping which has a lot more aggression and punch.

the live performance from the ninja tour is like 100 times better than this, the rapping was way stronger

You are absolutely correct MoFly41. I've noticed this before in many of his shred runs. They are just chromatic notes played one after the other with no reference to the key so they really sound dreadful. Otherwise his guitar playing is fine. He should check out John Petrucci - he has no problem keeping in key and neither does Slash - he always knows the right notes to hit at anytime. BTW no critism of Tom of course, he is a great musician and I like what he stands for. He (RATM) is #1 in the UK!

also, if you shouldn't listen to a song from a guitarist and expect the same thing when its from a different group of people with them. this is tom working on his own to make party music with a messege, not just music with a messege, he doesn't write the same stuff for all of his bands, each band has a different asethetic to it. not just eerie sounds and guitar pedal solos

Just because Tom Morello kicked ass in Ratm, doesen't mean he has to stick with that certain syle. He's trying out new things and it seems like he likes what he's doing right now.

As for the people talking about the solo... I personaly think all that matters is to go crazy with the guitar. Try doing his hammer ons and pull offs, Its fun to do.

And I think the people who made mistakes about him, play too much guitar hero.

I digged the song.
It's catchy and Tom is branching away from his usual style a bit other than the solo at the end. I really enjoyed the first solo though. It felt agressive but at the same time it was drowned in effects.

It's "My skin is black, my STAR is red", referring to the red communism star seen through the video and in the promo material for SSSC and RATM.

Both Tom and Boots are hardcore Marxist/Communist Socialists. That's central to the music of both RATM and Coup and part of what brought these guys together.
