That isn't a riff its a rhythmic exercise. The singing is pretty bad too.

I came to check this out because my brother is into these guys. Lame video. Music pretty much blows. Dude plays a str8 up scale for a solo? Oh wait, he added a little tapping in there. Well, that makes it good then. NOT! And Poglia is 100% correct!

He played bass for a while in Death, Alongside the mighty Chuck Schuldiner . If you don't know who that is then you don't know metal. Guitar player you hear is Steve Swamson, from a band called Massacre. Point is these guys are professionals, and can shred it up with the best of them. But thats not the point of SFU. They wanted to go a different direction. Without tons of double bass, and super fast riffs. They wanted simple, hard and heavy. Death is my favorite band, so I love fast and technical, but I like the fact that they can take such simple music and make it so raw and hard. Just because it isn't complicated doesn't mean it sucks. And all of you talking sh%t about Barnes, he has been the frontman of two major death metal bands. How many bands have you fronted? Exactly.

i'll agree about what you said about technicality. it shouldnt matter, but this is just sooo boring, and the singer....i just hate that stupid voice. talk about not trying at ALL.

and who cares about who is IN the band!? their 'music' is what it is regardless of who is playing in it. if stevie wonder played piano for fall out boy, i would still hate the music. if dave grohl drummed for panic at the disco, i would still hate it. if terry butler played bass for six feet under, i would still hate it.

I agree that Barnes did a lot of good in CC, but that doesn't mean he should be praised for putting out crap in SFU now. How many of us on here have talked shit about Hetfield even though he had an impact on metal early on.

I have to say, I hate it when people judge metal without listening properly to it. But this is the crap that makes it so easy for people to judge all metal as shit. I am not impressed at all by this and i now have to go listen to the Absence to get it out of my head.

Man. Chris Barnes is a really talented vocalist...but here he sounds like utter crap. 3/10--that's a solo even I could do. One tempo, and it's slow. 3 or 4 different "riffs," and they're all MAJORLY boring.

uh, no as much as i like Behemoth there more like a Blackened Death Metal, Behemoth took deathmetal and added some of the themes of black metal into it. Six Feet Under is just Death Metal.

SFU are an awesome band. Their style is very distinctive and Chris' vocals rock.
