The song is not bad, although it's pretty standard-ish; it flirts with the same formula the likes of In Flames and Gothenburg-bands or other similar European Melodic Death Metal bands have followed. Adds some more recent developments that are a nice touch but it's really not much out of the ordinary.

this band deserves a lot more credit than they recieve, they are one of the best american melodic death metal bands, but they never seem to tour extensively

To be fair, this isn't their best song, and it it's very similar to the stuff on their second album. It's still amazing though!

Actually, I believe it's a mixture of screams and vocal sear, and a tiiiny bit of growling on the lowest points. And I love how you used the plural, when in fact only one of them is doing the vocals. You sir, are fail. Might I ask if your user name was derived from the band Avenged Sevenfold, who if I'm not mistaken used to have abundant screaming vocals that were far less skillful than these?

Listen to some of their songs, you might be suprised. They have many songs a lot better than this one.

The Absence is awesome... Although I personally think "From Your Grave" is a better album, their music is brilliant. I didn't realise they were American until I saw it on the Internet, I was positive that these guys were from Sweden or something... So much European influences in melody
