If you’re a part of my Newsletter, then you know I sent a survey out to all of my members asking what new video lesson they’d like to see. The overwhelming votes were in favor of “Unique Chords for Singer/Songwriters,” so that’s what we’ll be talking about today.
Duncang: I'm curious, what do you mean by it's "Not really a songwriting lesson?" Harmony is a part of Songwriting and I talk about some ways you can apply those chords to your own writing.
Crazysam23_Atax: Hmm... interesting. I've always learned that an extension on top of a triad is an "Add" chord. I've never heard of adding (No7) to the sonority name. If you don't mind me asking, where did you learn this chord naming method?

Actually, I apologize. I completely got that wrong. However, if the chord included the notes A, B, C, E (but no G or G#), I was taught you would call it Amin9(No7). I rechecked your lesson, and you did have the 7ths, lol. Again, I apologize. I hope this doesn't confuse anyone.

It was an encouragement to find good voicings, and some examples of pretty chords and how to play them!
lol im trying to learn from you put the way you talk distracts me. dont take it offensive because you seem like a good guitarist. i can remember the names of the chords, but i remember the shapes. thanks for the lesson
Love those chords (i'd played the first one a million types in nearly every opeth song). Any one who's experimented enough with random chords would know those, but for those who don't, or didn't visualize the notes in the chords, this video was great.
Really good video dude, not sure why some people are complaining. Ive seen some of your videos before and to be honest couldnt get into them but if your going to put out more 'alternate/weird' chords and progression videos I'll definately be back for more!
Yeah those were some great chords that inspired me to compose a piece of very rhythmic music with sixteenth notes in the key of A major (mostly).
Have you tried RocketPiano, anyone? That seems like a pretty good product, but I've not tried it myself yet. Could be good for writing songs on the piano especially...
This site seems to think pretty highly of it - it also explains how music is a normal part of a healthy, happy life: http://www.lifestylebreak.com/family/mus... rship-for-health/
